Uni

Well I have started uni and it's nothing like I expected. I am flat mates with six German guys, a northerner and someone who I have yet to meet. And after getting over the initial shock that most of the people in my flat don't speak my language so good I'm starting to get along well. It's surprising that even though I was one of the worst people in my class at english I am now helping others try and learn it. But they are good guys and were getting along well. However I haven't been set any work yet so for the first time in my life I want to be given some work :L

Scouting

Scouting has been part of my life of so long now I can hardly believe it. 12 years I have been a member of scouts, going from beavers, cubs, scouts and now to explorers, I have been in scouts longer than in any school. This weekend I was just at a scout camp, it wasn't for me but rather a camp for the current cubs and beavers, I was there doing archery, cook and just helping out generally. And I really enjoyed it, even being woken up at ridiculous hours by the little ones and getting very little sleep, I had my friend Liam there, a fellow explorer who has been a scout for as long as I have, and the leaders, who have gone from being my leaders to becoming my friends. Every time I come home from camp I have this glow of just happiness, from spending time with friends, working together, playing games and sitting around a camp fire just being together. I really do love being a member of scouts as it has expanded me as a person, form learning how to camp, tie knots and how to sail, to getting on with a wide variety of people and making some friends who I will value for life and I encourage everyone to be part of the scouting organisation as whether your young or old, you can gain something out of it.

However as my life takes me onto new things, I feel said that I won't be able to be part of my fantastic scout group as being over 200 miles away will make it a bit difficult, and I envy the ones I was helping out on camp as they were screaming and laughing at 3 in the morning, of there journey that is before them. I remember spending so many hours on camp, climbing, abseiling, playing field games, learning to gamble, helping others who were less confident at camping, making out, staying awake for ages just chatting and trying not to get caught by the leaders. And doing other stuff like going to Disney land and the old mini bus which had a whole in the floor and that on steep hills you sometimes had to get out and push, ah good times.

Lazy days

Since I have finished school, I find that I just no will power to do anything anymore, no determination or drive. I mean today all I did was get up late then watch star trek voyager for 12 hours straight, I mean why? I know I could have done something and at points of the day I did want to do something but I just couldn't be bothered and now I feel guilty for wasting the day. I just don't know how to get motivation back into my life, I found that before my exams that I had the same problem that I CBA to do anything, then at the last minuet I felt the stress of exams and started working, but now that stress has gone I just don't do anything. I find that I am no longer living my life, but mearly existing with no purpose or direction. I try to be a spiritual person and pray, but I find I get no answer and it's causing to doubt my faith. For example when trying to choose university's and courses, I prayed a lot and the only answer I seemed to get is that I would have to make up my own mind, which I hate doing as I hate making decisions. And when I say I hate it I really mean it, it takes me forever to make my mind up about anything and even when I do finally make up my mind, I'm always second guessing myself and wishing I had done things differently even If I had made a good decision. If anyone reading this has any advice no matter when your reading this, I would greatly apritiate it.

An active weekend

Well this is my second post, and the last couple of days have been interesting. On Friday, the last exams were had, so everyone came round my house for a piss up to celebrate, which was great fun. Eventually the neighbours noticed so I had to lock the doors so the drunks couldn't escape onto the streets and cause havoc, I mean my friends are great, but pissed they can be a nightmare. The next day after 3 hours sleep and tiding the house, I then went out with my mates to help out at the village fair. We help set up then the others left as they had their lives to get back to, so I went into photography mode and started working down at the fair. A word of advise, after consuming copious amounts of alcohol don't then go zorbing, which is basically getting thrown around in a rubber ball as shown below, as it doesn't leave an easy stomach.
After helping push people around and taking some pictures, my scout leader, who manipulates me far to easily, then suggested I should help in the duck race, which is where we float a load of plastic ducks down the river and use the numbers on them as a raffle. From this, he then convinced me that since I was already wet, I should take part in the barrel race, where you have to carry a beer barrel up river and back again, I was not pleased.
Above is us pulling the barrel up the weir, that was hard work I can tell you. Then with only time for a burger, I then helped take down various tents and equipment to pack up the fair. From this I collapsed and didn't move until today where I had a nice family barbecue and a generally lazy day to recover.

My First Blog

Well this is my first blog. It is basically gonna be a diary of my life, just so i can keep clear in my head what I've done each day, it's also to express my views and share stuff I've learn't. I'm not a great speller or writer, so I apologise but I just kinda like typing, so this is a way to do lots of mindless typing, which may eventually get read.

Today was my last A-Level exam, my last ever day at St Boniface College and the end of an era. It feels weird that 14 years of compulsory education is over and that the world is my oyster. I've been reflecting on what i can remember of it all, and there is a lot of it. I've had great teachers and made lots of friends along the way, and I am going to miss them greatly.
